“I understand that this will sound ambitious, but I want to become a two-time world champion. if my people continue to believe in me, I will always represent them,” Commey said.
“Richard is a real warrior, and Vasily is a great champion. When he asked to stop the fight, I could not take away my fighter's pride and rejection. That would be wrong,” replied André Rosier, Commey's coach, when asked why he didn’t stop the fight in the seventh round.
“I told Richard to get up, pull himself together, make no more mistakes, and keep working. As you saw, he did just that and spent all 12 rounds in the ring and performed with dignity. He could have acted faster. He had some good moments. If he didn’t stop and didn’t give the enemy a chance to attack, I think the result would be more positive for us. But, again, Vasily is a fantastic fighter, he showed it today, and these guys showed a fantastic show today,” added Rosier.
