Israel Adesanya, the UFC middleweight champion, gave his prediction for the upcoming bout of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier.
“I like Oliveira. I think he gave up a couple of times in the past. For example, when I fought with Cowboy. But now he has become a champion, having come a long way. He deserves this title. But now in front of him is Dustin Poirier, a real veteran and a very tough guy who continues to add in the rack. At the beginning of his career, he had a nightmare, but with every fight I see him grow. When I watched his fight with Dan Hooker, I noticed how quickly Poirier was able to recover. I was very impressed with his breathing apparatus and cardio.
"Oliveira, on the other hand, is very dangerous on the ground, and if I were Poirier, I would not go there, despite the fact that he has a black belt. Let him fight in a standing position. Oliveira is still weak. Of course, jokes with him are bad, this was evident in the fight with Chandler, when he caught him with a left hook. He's a serious stance fighter, but I don't see him as tall as Poirier. I like the way Poirier added. He still has not the best legs, he is too invested in the kick. But everyone has their own style, and in his performance it works."
