No additional interim limits regarding the weight of the contestants in the cruiserweight division between Saul Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) and WBC champion Ilunga Makabu (28-2, 15 KOs). This was stated in an interview with Fight Hub by the coach and manager of the Canelo team, Eddy Reynoso.

Meanwhile, Alvarez himself told boxing analyst Dan Rafael that he intends to weigh about 180 pounds (81.6 kg) in this so far hypothetical fight, which is about 20 pounds (9 kg) less than his opponent during his championship fights in the cruiserweight.

The bout between the undisputed super middleweight champion and Ilunga Makabu is expected to take place next May, unless the Congolese loses the title in January against Thabiso Mchunu (23-5, 13 KOs). In this case, the P4P king will face the new world champion.
