Former Deontay Wilder trainer Malik Scott shared his view on a possible megafight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

A potential Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua showdown may be more chess match than shootout, at least in the eyes of Malik Scott. The former trainer of ex-heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder said he would not be surprised if the long-discussed all-British blockbuster lasted the full 12 rounds.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV on YouTube, Scott said the matchup between Fury and Joshua would look very different from the kind of fight fans once imagined involving Wilder and AJ. In his view, that hypothetical clash always felt destined for a dramatic knockout because of the raw punching power involved.

Scott sees something else in Fury vs. Joshua: a more measured, tactical fight between two elite heavyweights who know exactly what is at stake. Rather than expecting one man to score a highlight-reel finish, he believes the bout could turn into a disciplined, strategic battle shaped by patience, distance control, and decision-making.

Scott stopped short of making a firm prediction on the winner. He said he does not have a definitive answer if asked directly who would come out on top, though he leans toward the result being decided by the judges rather than by stoppage.

If the fight does happen, its significance would extend far beyond domestic bragging rights in the UK. Fury and Joshua have spent years circling one another as the two biggest British names of their era, and for American fans the matchup would still carry major crossover appeal because of its long build, commercial scale, and impact on the heavyweight title picture. A Fury win would further cement his standing as the defining heavyweight of his generation, while a Joshua victory would reshape his career narrative and put him back at the center of the division in a massive way.

For now, Scott’s read on the matchup is clear: expect high-level tension, not necessarily chaos, if Fury and Joshua finally share the ring.
