Egor Golub, coach of the WBO international lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk, commented on the replacement of an opponent for the upcoming fight of his ward on December 18 in Brovary. Initially, the Ukrainian was supposed to meet with Gustavo Lemos, but at the time of the deadline, the Argentinian had not signed a contract for the fight, and as a result, Berinchyk will enter the ring against the former contender for the world title of the Russian Isa Chaniev.
“Initially, we were preparing for Gustavo Lemos, who is the third number in the IBF and the thirteenth in the WBO, but two weeks ago he refused, and then we learned that Isa Chaniev will play against Denis. I had to change some points in preparation, re-analyze the opponent, revise his fights. The opponent is quite serious - at one time he boxed for the world title. In our rules, we always prepare at the maximum, whoever steps into the ring against us. We do not choose an opponent, our task is to do everything to win.
“In the training camp, we train according to the established scheme. Then, for each opponent, we develop tactics, a plan of technical actions, and develop individual combinations. Of course, if any problems arise, we correct the training process so as not to harm,” said Golub, who continues training with Berinchyk in Bukovel, Ukraine.
“When preparing for fist fights, we trained in the same way as before boxing fights. True, I had to change something - they removed repeated attacks, did not do many punches, developed footwork more in order to protect themselves, to protect hands and head from dissections. And, of course, they came up with new chips. We prepare for this battle in such a way as to win. And further steps will depend on our promoter,” Golub added.
