Taktarov: "If Chimaev had not succumbed to cheap PR, something could have come out of him"

Russian veteran of mixed martial arts Oleg Taktarov shared his opinion on the prospect of the UFC welterweight division Khamzat Chimaev.

“If he had not succumbed to the wave of popularity and cheap PR that surrounded him, if he continued to train as he trained, then something could come of him.

"We already corresponded with him, and I expressed my opinion to him: “Don't pay attention to anyone, don't go anywhere, just get ready and that's it. When you are a champion, then do whatever you want. He did not obey, he has his own way," Taktarov said.

Chimaev had his last fight on October 30 at UFC 267, strangling Lee Jingliang in the first round.
