December 18 at the arena of the Terminal center in Brovary, Ukraine, the international WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk (15-0, 9 KOs) will defend the title in a duel with the Russian Isa Chaniev (15-3, 7 KOs).
“He's been in the top 15 twice before. Denis needs to protect his belt, keep active, improve his skills, he needs as much practice as possible. Chaniev is a very experienced and difficult opponent. Very difficult. I myself wonder how this fight will go. In this fight Denis will answer the question of what he is worth. He will answer this question both for himself and for all fans,” said K2 Promotions CEO Aleksandr Krasyuk.
Initially, Berinchyk was supposed to meet another rival, but in the end the organizers had to stop at Chaniev's candidacy.
“At the last moment, the day before the announcement of the fight, we did not receive a signed contract from the Argentinean from the top 15 rating. His promoter assured that it was possible to declare a fight, we would sign a contract, but nothing happened,” Krasyuk explained.
