Saul Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) after Floyd Mayweather Jr. retirement became the most popular and highest paid boxer in the world. In one of his interviews, Mayweather commented on the successes of the Mexican, whom he once confidently beat back in 2013, when Canelo was 23 years old.
“I like Canelo, he is a great boxer, but there are many other good boxers - Gervonta Davis, Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford. It's my personal opinion. David Benavidez is also a good boxer, and he would be a good test for Canelo," Mayweather said in an interview at the WBC Congress in Mexico.
Saul Alvarez recently surprised the boxing world with his intention to challenge the title in his fifth weight class. The Mexican would like to face the WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu (28-2, 25 KOs).
