Undefeated #1 WBC Super Middleweight contender David Benavidez (25-0, 22 KOs), considered the main threat to undisputed champion Saul Alvarez, in the main event of Saturday night at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, stopped by TKO in the seventh round a late substitution in the face of Kyron Davis (16-3-1, 6 KOs).
Former two-time WBC champion Benavidez chased Davis for the first three rounds. Then, in a thrilling two-sided fourth round, Davis decided to push back and fight. Davis continued to fight bravely, but suffered too much damage, until finally, in the seventh round, a towel flew from his corner at 0:48.
