Coach of interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane Fernand Lopez spoke about his personal impressions of Alexander Volkov.
"Volkov looks very intimidating in person. I don't envy, frankly, Volkov's next opponent.
"When you're standing across from Volkov in the cage - you get really fucking scared. He's really scary. The big one. When the referee takes you to your corners before the fight, and Volkov walks with that gait of his in the corner, looking Ciryl in the eye... Wow. That's really scary. I was scared, and I remember looking into Ciryl's eyes as he was there - and he was smiling.
"After the fight, I asked him, "Why were you smiling when he looked you in the eye?" He replied, "He was kind of too serious, threatened me with a look. I wanted to let him know: Brother, you don't have to do that - we're already fighting in a few seconds. Don't worry, I like fights, I like to fight. Just wait a little bit," Lopez revealed.
Volkov lost to Gane on June 27 by unanimous decision. On October 31, the Russian will meet Marcin Tybura.
