Eddie Hearn doubts that the third fight Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) vs Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) will actually take place on October 9. The fight was previously scheduled for July 25, but Fury's team reported that "The Gypsy King" has contracted a coronavirus.
"I don't think this duel will happen. I used to say there wouldn't be a fight and there wasn't a fight. If someone told you now that a Fury-Wilder duel would happen 100 percent, what would you say?" Hearn rhetorically asked in an interview with IFL TV.
The official reason for the cancellation of the July Fury-Wilder fight was the champion's illness, but there has been unconfirmed speculation that the decision to change the date could be due to a ban on travel to the United States for British citizens, meaning a large portion of ticket buyers for the evening. That ban is expected to be in place for at least a few more weeks and it is not known if it will be lifted before the Fury-Wilder event.
