Ugas defeats Pacquiao, defends WBA title

WBA super welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas (27-4, 12 KOs) defeated ring legend Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main event of the evening before 17,438 spectators at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. As expected, the bout was a tactical fight. Pacquiao acted as the aggressor and often went forward on Ugas. The cautious Ugas was more accurate but less active. Ugas finished the fight more confidently. The scores were 115-113, 116-112, 116-112.

The 35-year-old Ugas was scheduled to appear in another bout on the same night, coming on as a replacement after welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. was forced to withdraw due to an eye injury.
