On September 11, former world champion in six weight categories, Oscar De La Hoya, plans to hold an exhibition bout against Vitor Belfort, the former UFC light heavyweight champion. De La Hoya said that in the future he intends to hold a series of such fights.
“Mike Tyson inspired me to come back. I decided I wanted to do it too, and the demons inside told me that I had to do it. I want to have two exhibitions, and then I will be ready for an official fight against Canelo Alvarez or Floyd Mayweather Jr." the head of Golden Boy Promotions said.
De La Hoya, unofficially, has signed a long-term contract with Triller, which has begun making evenings with celebrities and seasoned senior boxing champions since the fall. It is possible that Golden Boy Promotions tournaments from next year will be broadcast only on the Triller streaming platform.
Belfort's last fight was in May 2018. De La Hoya has not entered the ring since December 2008. The fight in the USA will take place as a Pay-Per-View.
