Former UFC two weight champion Conor McGregor shared his expectations for a third fight against Dustin Poirier on July 10 at UFC 264 in Las Vegas.
“Poirier is a corpse. A dead man, a sour face that gets in the ass and will be carried out on a stretcher. Every blow I throw in this camp is fatal. That's it. I'm going to kill this guy. It will be a beating of a frightened boy. As always, he is fighting the fear of meeting me, so I'm going to play with the little boy, play with my ptay, and then just eat it.
"For this fight, we primarily focused on mixed martial arts. For the last fight, 85% of the camp consisted of boxing, we were preparing for the fight against Pacquiao - and this is how the fight with Poirier turned out. It was supposed to be a charity event, not even under the UFC banner. I chose Poirier because he is southpaw. I felt a little sorry for him, so I helped him. That's all. Everything went according to plan and I faced failure, but failure is great. Defeat is the secret to success. Thanks to this, I am where I need to be," the Irishman said in an interview with The MacLife.
The first meeting of these fighters took place in 2014 and ended with McGregor's victory by TKO in the first round. The American took revenge this January by knocking the Irishman out in the second round.
