Mairis Briedis said that only a unification fight with Lawrence Okolie can keep him in the cruiserweight division. The Latvian has been planning a transition to the heavyweights for several months, where he may debut in May.
“I think I have nothing more to prove in the cruiserweight division. I fought for all belts, won the World Boxing Super Series tournament. However, if Okolie's promoters make me an offer that makes me stay in the cruiserweights for one more fight, I'm open to that offer. Eddie Hearn knows Kalle Sauerland's number,” Briedis said.
The boxer from Latvia in his last performance defeated Yunier Dorticos on points. The bet in a potential fight with Lawrence Okolie will be the IBF and WBO championship belts.
