Hearn: I thought Lopez would lose to Lomachenko every round
The head of the Matchroom Boxing promotion company Eddie Hearn admitted that he did not believe in the current undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez on the eve of his fight against Vasyl Lomachenko, in which the American scored an unexpected victory by unanimous decision.
“Of course, I would like to cooperate with Teofimo. I like him. I think he's great. Lopez entered the ring and boxed with one of the best pound-for-pound fighters. I didn't think he should have agreed to this fight. When Lopez beat Commey, I thought it was right if he was allowed to have two defenses and make a name for himself, since he was still not a star, and only then would he be tied to Lomachenko.
"He said he wants to fight Lomachenko now. I thought Lopez would not win this fight. It seemed to me that he would lose every round. How wrong I was. He gave a great performance,” Hearn said in an interview with YouTube channel Fino Boxing.
