Lopez rules out a rematch with Lomachenko

Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) announced that he was not going to give rematch to Vasyl Lomachenko (14-2, 10 KOs). The 23-year-old fighter defeated the Ukrainian on points in October, taking away his IBF, WBA, WBO and WBC lightweight titles.

“We had a contract for one fight without the possibility of rematch. If I lost, I wouldn't get rematch either. Now everyone has to go their own way," the fighter from New York said.

In his next pro performance, Lopez is set to cross gloves with George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs), who is the official contender for the IBF belt. Promotional bids of this fight are scheduled for February 18.

It is possible that at the end of the year Lopez will move to the super lightweights. The American is interested in a fight for four championship belts with the winner of the fight planned for May between Jose Carlos Ramirez and Josh Taylor, which will give him a chance to become the undisputed champion in two weight categories.
