Thompson believes that Khabib does not need to return to the octagon

Former UFC welterweight title contender Stephen Thompson expressed the opinion that Khabib Nurmagomedov has no reason to resume performances.

“Khabib is at the top. He is the elite of the elite. He's the king of MMA and it just doesn't make sense for him to fight someone like Dan Hooker and one of these guys. It just doesn't make sense.

The only option for his return is a duel with Conor. However, there are many obstacles in the way of this and I don't think Khabib will give him this fight. Conor wants this, I guess. It will be a huge money fight, but Khabib won't give him rematch. With that said, I don't see him returning. This is not necessary," the American said in an interview with YouTube-channel Fanatics View.

The last fight Nurmagomedov fought in October last year, defeating Justin Gaethje by submission. After the fight, the Russian announced his retirement.
