As previously reported, interim WBC heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin will be ready for his next fight by early spring. Povetkin spent his last fight back in August, when he knocked out Dillian Whyte in the fifth round at the Matchroom event in Brentwood. Their rematch was twice postponed due to the fact that Povetkin was diagnosed with COVID-19.

At the moment, Povetkin has already started light workouts to put his body in shape. The Russian argues that Whyte is the only option he is targeting.

“We haven't discussed any other rivals besides Whyte. Whyte is the only option. Now everything seems to be fine," Povetkin said in the interview. "I started running in the morning. The other day I began to work slowly on heavy bags and hit pads. So everything goes as it should. There were no complications, everything went well. As soon as they brought me to the hospital, the temperature immediately subsided. There was, of course, some weakness in the body, but on the whole everything is in order, nothing to complain about."

“I watched the fight of Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev, but only the rounds. Joshua boxed well. He is stronger, more powerful, his punches are heavier. He knocked Pulev down once, then twice. Well, then it all ended,” Povetkin commented on Joshua's fight against Pulev.
