Dillian Whyte (27-2, 18 KOs) does not believe that the real reason for the refusal of Alexander Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 KOs) from the rematch planned for November 21 was the coronavirus infection.

“Personally, I don't think it's about covid. I think he just needed more time to recover because he was badly hurt in the first fight. Now he's on vacation,” Whyte said in an interview to Sky Sport.

According to the promoter of the Pocetnik, Andrey Ryabinsky, the Russian spent the last few days in the hospital. He is currently at home, but he still needs to wait 2-3 weeks to get permission to start training, and it is unknown if he will be ready to fight Whyte on January 30 (new rematch deadline).

The first fight of Povetkin and Whyte ended with a sensational knockout victory for "Sasha". The first meeting has interim and diamond WBC heavyweight titles at stake.
