According to The Athletic's Mike Coppinger, Caleb Plant (20-0, 12 KOs) will not fight Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) on December 19. The parties came to the decision that the time left until the scheduled date is not enough for a full-fledged promotion, and the event will probably be postponed to January.

The fight against Plant will be shown in the US on FOX TV, but it will only be a one-fight deal. The Mexican does not intend to conclude long-term contracts in the near future after the breakdown of cooperation with DAZN.

Alvarez was also proposed by Eddie Hearn, who invites the Mexican to fight Callum Smith or Billy Joe Saunders. The names of the two Britons have been appearing in the context of a duel against the Mexican over the past several months.

Official confirmation of the return date and closest opponent of Alvarez should take place shortly. Canelo has not entered the ring since last November, when he knocked Sergey Kovalev out and won the light heavyweight championship belt.
