Alexander Flores (18-2-1, 16 KOs) is having problems after a very short Saturday performances against Luis Ortiz (32-2, 27 KOs). The fight, which became the main event of the evening from the Premier Boxing Champions in Los Angeles, lasted only 40 seconds.
Ortiz attacked with a body punch, after which Flores found himself on the floor. However, from the outside it looked doubtful whether the Cuban's punch was really strong enough to prevent the American from continuing the fight.
The California State Athletic Commission had questions about this and reached out to Flores for clarification. For Saturday's performance, the 30-year-old boxer was supposed to earn $80,000, but it is not known if the money will eventually go to Flores' account. At the moment, the payment of the purse has been suspended.
For Ortiz, Saturday's performance was a return to the ring after losing in the fight for the WBC belt against Deontay Wilder.
