Frank Warren said there is no chance that Dillian Whyte (27-2, 18 KOs) will become the next contender for WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs). Eddie Hearn suggested such a duel, but promoter Fury Warren ruled out such a scenario.
“In the end, Whyte was demolished by Povetkin. Why would Tyson fight him? Our goal is the undefeated European champion Agit Kabayel. Fury prepares to fight him,” Warren said.
“Whyte had his chance. He was already a mandatory contender for the WBC belt, but lost everything, losing to Povetkin. His chance has been missed,” the British promoter said.
At the moment, Agit Kabayel (20-0, 13 KOs) has not yet signed a contract to fight Fury. Final financial agreements are underway. If Kabayel does not accept the conditions presented to him, the offer to meet Fury will probably go to Simon Keane of Canada.
