Lopez beat Lomachenko, becomes the undisputed champion

In the fight for the title of undisputed lightweight champion, 23-year-old Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) defeated Vasyl Lomachenko (14-2, 10 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main event of the evening at the MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas. In fact, Lopez secured a victory in the first six rounds due to Lomachenko's extremely low activity. Lopez also won the final 12th round, landing 50 punches, according to CompuBox statistics, the record for the Ukrainian's entire professional career.

The scores were 116-112, 119-109 and 117-111.

After the fight, Lomachenko said that he thought he had won the fight, but he needed to watch the video. The Ukrainian also said he won some rounds in the first half of the fight and took the second half. Lomachenko said nothing about rematch. There was no rematch clause in the fight contract.

Lopez said after the fight that he knew that Lomachenko would take time to return to the game after 14 months of inactivity.
