WBC, WBO and WBA Lightweight Champion Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) will face IBF Champion Teofimo Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs) in less than two weeks on October 17 in Las Vegas. The Ukrainian has long been harassed and insulted by the American and announced that Teofimo will pay dearly for this, but Lomachenko's latest statement shows respect for his opponent's skills.
“Lopez is a great puncher, he has a high boxing IQ, he is younger than me, but has had as many fights as I have. However, I have a lot of experience in twelve round fights. So we'll see if Lopez manages to keep his style during the fight,” Lomachenko said.
“When I started watching his fights, I got to know his boxing style. I began to learn more about him. I saw his high intelligence in the ring. He understands what to do between the ropes. He understands the intentions of his opponents well. It will be a very interesting fight for the whole world of boxing,” the two-time Olympic champion and three weight world champion as a pro added.
“Lightweight is not my category. I'm more comfortable at featherweight, but I need four belts. I want to be the undisputed champion. I will answer all questions in detail only after the fight. I do my job, and my father shows me what I am capable of in the ring and shows me my goals,” added the Ukrainian.
