Billy Joe Saunders (29-0, 14 KOs) is not going to wait any longer for Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs). It is not yet clear if the Mexican will return to the ring this year. Canelo may only be back in the ring in the spring of 2021.

In May, Saunders came close to meeting Alvarez. The fight was officially scheduled to be announced in March, the terms of the contract were agreed, but the outbreak of the coronavirus has frozen the entire boxing calendar.

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about a possible fight of Canelo and the British, but the lack of a financial agreement between the Mexican and the DAZN platform has complicated the negotiations. Saunders said he is now focusing on other equally ambitious goals.

The world champion in two weight divisions would like to cross gloves with reigning WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (29-0, 18 KOs) or WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs). The fight of Saunders and Andrade was supposed to take place two years ago, but then prohibited doping substances were found in the Saunders' tests. Saunders was suspended for six months and missed out on an opportunity to earn $2 million.
