In the third round, Oquendo was on the floor after a missed uppercut. Herring also suffered a cut over his right eye in the fifth round following a headbutt that referee Tony Weeks considered intentional. Between rounds, Weeks deducted one point from Oquendo.

Herring and Oquendo were scheduled to fight on July 2, then July 14, but Herring has tested positive for COVID-19 twice.

Herring's next fight will likely be in November against the former two-division champion Carl Frampton.

Also this evening, the promising Jared “Real Big Baby” Anderson (6-0, 6 KOs) got his another KO victory as a pro. The 20-year-old heavyweight, praised by Bob Arum and Tyson Fury, knocked out Rodney Hernandez (13-10-2, 4 KOs) in the fourth round.
