Alvarez vs Golovkin III is planned for May 2021

In May 2021, according to the information announced by The Athletic, the third fight of Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) and Gennady Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KOs) may take place. However, in order for this fight to come true, at least three conditions must be met.

First of all restrictions on attending boxing evenings should be lifted. Alvarez should earn up to $45 million for the May fight, and Golovkin - $30 million, and raise funds for such large purses without ticket sales (ticket sales for Canelo's previous clash with GGG was $27 million) will not be possible.

Secondly the Mexican must win his fight scheduled for September 12 possibly against Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs), and thirdly GGG must win the confrontation with Kamil Szeremeta (21-0, 5 KOs) which may take place in October.

Until now Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez have met twice in the ring. The first confrontation ended in a draw, in the second fight Canelo won on points.
