Former super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez (40-0, 26 KOs) announced that his contract with Top Rank has expired. The Mexican, who recently began competing at light heavyweight, is now a free agent.

The 28-year-old boxer had his last fight last April defeating Tommy Karpency by TKO. In February, Ramirez refused to participate in the tournament for the vacant WBO belt, where his opponent was to be Eleider Alvarez.

“I would like to thank Bob Arum and the Top Rank promoter who have always supported my career. It's time for a new chapter: there are many great fights to be held in the light heavyweight division,” the Mexican boxer said.

It is unknown if Ramirez is going to contract the new promoter. Eddie Hearn has already expressed interest in signing the boxer.
