Derek Chisora is ready to help Alexander Povetkin in his preparation for the fight against Dillian Whyte. Povetkin’s duel with Whyte was planned this month, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. There is a preliminary date in July, which, most likely, will not work either. The most likely date for today is late July or early August. Chisora has already spoken with Povetkin about flying to Russia, in order to help him preparing for Whyte.
“I already told Povetkin that if he needed me, I would come and help him. I will fly to Russia," Chisora said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“He said he would send me a private jet. Povetkin is my guy. I don't care what Whyte says. The Russian has already spoken to me and said: “When the time comes, I will send a plane to pick you up, and you can help me get ready. I am for it".
Chisora believes that he was undeservedly deprived of victory when he lost by split decision to Whyte in December 2016. In their revenge in 2018, Chisora was winning on points, lost by knockout in the eleventh round. Chisora is confident that his story with Whyte will one day turn into a trilogy.
“It will happen,” Chisora said. "Great Britain would like to see it again. I am open to any fight. As long as I can lace up my gloves, I'm ready to rock and roll anytime.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn plans to organize Whyte vs Povetkin in Britain behind closed doors, while Chisora can fight former undisputed cruiserweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
“We must return with a bang. Whyte vs. Povetkin, along with Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano. These are the fights that I think we will see in late July or early August,” Eddie Hearn said.
