The best bout of the UFC Fight Night 172 tournament is the battle of Marlon Vera and Song Yadong. The battle ended with Yadong victory by unanimous decision, and both fighters received $50,000 in bonuses.

Courtney Casey and Miguel Baeza received bonuses for the best performance of the evening. Casey defeated Mara Boriela in a painful reception, and Baeza knocked Matt Brown out.

In the main event of the evening, Alistair Overeem defeated Walt Harris by TKO.
