Bob Arum confirmed that the first boxing evenings after the coronavirus pandemic will take place in the United States in June. The events will be organized without the participation of spectators, and will be broadcast on ESPN.
The head of the promotion organization Top Rank said that boxing fans will have to wait longer for the third fight of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. A duel will be possible no later than the end of the year, and is likely to take place outside the United States.
Arum announced that in the first boxing evenings, fans will be able to see, among others, the world lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs). At the end of May, the 22-year-old American was supposed to face Vasyl Lomachenko, but since he is now in Ukraine, the American is likely to meet another opponent.
WBO and WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez (25-0, 17 KOs) and WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson (13-0, 7 KOs) will also have their fights at these events. Both fighters were supposed to return to the ring in the spring, but the epidemic prevented these plans.
