Mauricio Suleiman is convinced that the boxing environment will soon deal with the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. WBC President notes that boxing is in a much better position than, for example, team sports.

“The organization of boxing evenings can be quickly adapted to new conditions. We will soon issue a decree on this matter. We will limit the number of people at each event and we will take all precautions,” Suleiman explained.

“Boxing is an individual sport. There are only two athletes in the ring, and if someone has bleeding, this does not increase the risk of infection. In football and team sports, many participants come into contact with each other. There are also backup and extensive training centers. Everything is much more complicated and dangerous there,” Suleiman said.

The World Boxing Council has announced that it will soon launch the Clean Boxing program again. The WBC anti-doping testing system has been suspended for several weeks due to travel restrictions.
