Former world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-5, 53 KOs) most likely will not return to the ring, although he continues to repeat that if he does return, it’s only for the sake of breaking the record of George Foreman, the oldest world heavyweight champion in history. It is interesting that Foreman himself opposes such a return.
“Why is he boxing again? That would make sense if he really needed money. And if he is doing well from a financial point of view, I would advise him not to return to the ring,” Big George said.
Foreman was 46 when he lost his IBF champion belt for refusing to take rematch with Axel Schulz. Therefore, theoretically, Klitschko, in order to break the record of the legendary American, should have regained such a title no earlier than in the second half of 2022, which in the current state of heavyweight division seems unrealistic. But, on the other hand, who believed in Foreman’s victory in 1994 in his battle against Michael Moorer?
