Pulev demands fight against Ruiz

Team of Kubrat Pulev (27-1, 14 KOs) has sent an official letter to the International Boxing Federation (IBF), which demands to oblige Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-1, 22 KOs) to meet him.

Pulev since October last year, after winning the eliminator over Hugh Fury is the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt that from June 1, together with the WBA and WBO trophies belongs to Ruiz.

"While we waited patiently, but the time has come! Andy Ruiz Jr. will face the problem number 1, which is Pulev," Bob Arum said the promoter of the Bulgarian.

Arum requirements definitely are at odds with the plans of Ruiz and the team of Anthony Joshua (22-1, 21 KOs), who hoped that he would fight to the end of the year in the second fight against the Mexican "Destroyer." If IBF agrees with the request of Pulev's promoter, the situation could be repeated as in 2015, when Tyson Fury, under the contract for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, lost his IBF belt for refusing mandatory title defense. In this scenario, Kubrat Pulev will contest the vacant title with another boxer from the ranking. Currently in third place in the ranking there is a heavyweight Agit Kabayel.
