Bids on Alvarez vs Derevyanchenko fight are scheduled for today

Purse bids for the IBF middleweight title fight between reigning champion Saul Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) and mandatory challenger for his title Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-1, 10 KOs) is scheduled for today.

It is unclear whether the bids really take place, because Canelo, is likely to leave the belt vacant. The Mexican had to return to the ring on September 14, but his fight was postponed for a few weeks.

Alvarez until recently was serious about the fight in the light heavyweight division, where he could meet with WBO champion Sergey Kovalev. Now for the possible variants for the Mexican are the unification bout with Demetrius Andrade or a third fight with Gennady Golovkin.

If Canelo leave the IBF belt vacant, Derevyanchenko will challenge it with the opponent with the highest position in the ratings of the Federation. In the latest rankings below Ukrainians there were Gennady Golovkin and Kamil Sheremeta. It is possible that Golovkin will not be interested in a fight with Derevyanchenko, because his team expressed great interest in the meeting with Jaime Munguia before. This fight could take place on September 14.
