Bids on Lomachenko vs Campbell moved to Wednesday

Purse bids for a fight between WBO and WBA lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KOs) and Luke Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs) are rescheduled on next Wednesday. The organizer of the fight was to be determined yesterday, but in the end bids will be moved to the next week, which is usually a sign that the parties are close to an agreement.

Promoters Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum agree that the fight have to take place in the UK where Lomachenko has not yet had the opportunity to perform as a professional. The Ukrainian and the Englishman were nominated candidates for the vacant WBC belt. Previously, the title belonged to Mikey Garcia.

The bout could take place August 31 in London. If the case still goes to purse bid, it will increase the likelihood of the organization of the duel in the US, but at the moment it is unlikely.

In his last professional performance Lomachenko knocked out another Briton Anthony Crolla. If the Ukrainian defeats Campbell, he will have three of the four major titles in 135 pounds. For Campbell, this is a second chance in his career to win a world championship belt.
