"Winning these titles and win the whole tournament - this is my dream," said Krzysztof Głowacki (31-1, 19 KOs) who on Saturday night in Riga will fight for the WBC and WBO titles in the cruiserweight division with a local hero Mairis Briedis (25-1, 18 KOs).
"We are waiting for the great war, and I will win it. I can't wait till Saturday!" added the Pole at the final press conference before the fight. For Głowacki it will a defense of his WBO belt. Vacant WBC title will also be at the stake. In the second semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series in the cruiserweights Yunier Dorticos (23-1, 21 KOs) will face Andrew Tabiti (17-0, 13 KOs).
"I do not know if it will be a war, but it will be certainly a very interesting fight. I am glad that it will happen in my country. If someone ten years ago told me that in Latvia there will be such a great night, I would not have believed it. My dream has come true," said Briedis, a former WBC champion.
"This battle is not only for a lot of money, and for reaching the final of the tournament, but also for the two titles. It is a sport at the highest level, because here the best meets the best. They are true gladiators," the promoter Kalle Sauerland praised the upcoming evening.
