UFC President Dana White on the UFC Unfiltered podcast said that the lightweight champion of the organization Khabib Nurmagomedov will have his second defense of his title in September. A few weeks ago Russian commentator Azamat Bostanov also said that the undefeated champion plans to return to octagon in September.
On October 6, at UFC 229, Nurmagomedov held his first title defense, defeating Conor MacGregor in the fourth round via submission. After the fight, the Russian jumped over Octagon and arranged a brawl with the members of the opposing team. In January, the Nevada State Athletic Commission disqualified Nurmagomedova for nine months and ordered a fine of $500,000.
The next opponent of Khabib probably will be the winner of the battle for the interim UFC belt between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier on April 13.
