Klimas: I see how Gvozdyk is changing and getting better

Egis Klimas, the manager of the WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksander Gvozdyk (16-0, 13 KOs) is confident that winning the world title has changed the Ukrainian boxer for the better and he will be very motivated in a fight against Doudou Ngumbu (38-8, 14 KO), despite the underdog status of his opponent.

- Only a few days left before the first title defense of Gvozdyk. What can we expect from his performance against Ngumbu?

- To be honest, it interests me even more than all the rest. And all because I saw him in the gym, he was very happy with the training and was absolutely focused on his goal. I see how he changes, he becomes the best in all components. And therefore I assume that he will be a completely different fighter in the ring. I do not know exactly what will happen during the battle, but I’ll say for sure that Gvozdyk will win. Really I do not know how it will be. But he will win. Without any doubts.

- Last time, when Gvozdyk fought against a fighter who was not very well known to the American fans, he did not look very good. And the audience was not happy with the name of the opponent. Does the story happen again?

- I tell you, now everything is different. He is a world champion. And Gvozdyk is going to keep the title for a long time. So he is very motivated and focused.
