Petr Yan rises six positions up in the UFC ratings

MMA fighter Petr Yan (12-1) of Russia rose to the eighth place in the list of the UFC bantamweights after his victory over John Dodson (20-11) at the UFC Fight Nights 145 tournament. For Yan, the battle in Prague became the fourth under the auspices of the American promotion.

All four fights took place in a record nine months, and the fighter himself noted that he did not plan to enter the top so quickly: “I honestly didn’t expect to get into the top ten so quickly. But if everything goes this way, it means that we are doing everything right and we deserve it,” said Yan.

In addition, Yan noted that he had already discussed a possible fight in Chicago with UFC vice-president Sean Shelby: “After the battle in Prague at four in the morning, my manager Danny and I talked with Sean Shelby about how they would like to see me on 8 June in Chicago. We even discussed several names.”

He also commented on the information that the president of the league is his personal fan: “Yes, I read news about it. I don’t know if he is a fan or not, but Sean Shelby said that Dana White had decided my visa question personally, he called to some senator. I hope that someday I will please the fans with our joint video.”

On February 23, Petr Yan beat on points John Dodson of US. For the Russian fighter, this victory was the 12th in his career. It is worth noting that he has updated his position in the world bantamweights ranking and now occupies the eighth position.
