Gvozdyk: After Stevenson fight somebody says referee made mistake

WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (16-0, 13 KOs) believes that the referee acted correctly in his bout against Adonis Stevenson (29-2, 24 KOs), after which the Canadian was hospitalized and was induced in coma.

“Some began to say after my fight that the referee made mistake, that it was necessary to stop before the last blow. It is very difficult to count these fractions of a second. If he stopped the fight, he would not like it, they said that he stopped early. It is very difficult. I think the referee did everything right, because he insured, firstly, his ass, and secondly, the health of the boxer. I think when you are in such a state, it is impossible to adequately assess the situation.

“Under the contract, I have two more fights, i.e. already one fight is guaranteed, but I would like to spend two more,” Gvozdyk said.
