Oleksandr Usyk named ESPN Boxer of the year

Undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (16-0, 12 KOs) was named by boxing experts of the ESPN channel, namely his authoritative columnist Dan Rafael, the Best boxer of 2018.

The 31-year-old Ukrainian in the last twelve months won the first Mohammed Ali Trophy in the WBSS tournament, beating Marius Briedis and Murat Gassiev on points, and then knocked out Tony Bellew. Usyk fought on the road, on the home arenas of his opponents - in Latvia, Russia and Great Britain.

Other nominees for the title of the Boxer of the Year by ESPN were: Vasyl Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia, Anthony Joshua and Maurice Hooker.
