Lomachenko drops twice and decisions Pedraza, unifies titles

In the main event of the evening at the arena of Madison Square Garden in New York, Vasyl Lomachenko (12-1, 9 KOs) scored a convincing unanimous decision victory over Jose Pedraza (25-2, 12 KOs) and unified two championship lightweight titles. In the eleventh round, the Puerto Rican was twice on the floor, but was able to bring the fight to the final bell. The scores were 119-107 and 117-109 twice.

The fight took place mostly in tactical confrontation. Lomachenko “hung” on the opponent, but acted less aggressively than in his previous fights. Pedraza threw a very large number of punches, but walked backwards and also tried not to trade. Lomachenko dominated the fight, mainly due to his left hand.

In the eleventh round, Lomachenko managed to hurt Pedraza and land enough punches for the Puerto Rican to fell down on his knee. After some time, Pedraza was dawn once again this time from body punch. According to the statistics, in these three minutes Lomachenko landed 42 power punches.

In the twelfth round, Lomachenko tried to finish off his opponent, but Pedraza was able to survive to the final bell.
