WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk hopes that Adonis Stevenson’s condition will improve soon.
"This is, in fact, terrified. I hope that he will recover soon. I do not know what happened to him, because, in principle, I saw him about 20 minutes after the fight and he looked quite normal, despite that he was sitting on a stretcher. If there are strong problems, then for God’s sake let him get better quickly," said Gvozdyk.
The bout, with WBC light heavyweight belt at stake was stopped in the 11th round after Gvozdyk knocked Stevenson out. The 41-year-old boxer in critical condition was taken to a hospital in Quebec. There, Stevenson was induced into a medical coma. Today, the promoter of the boxer said Adonis was in stable condition.
