The Nevada State Athletic Commission temporarily disqualifies MMA fighters Khabib Nurmagomedov of Russia and Irishman Conor MacGregor. Temporary suspension will last from October 15 to October 24, when the commission will meet to vote on the issue of sanctioning athletes.

The fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor took place on Sturday and was the main event of the UFC 229 tournament. The Russian fighter defeated the Irishman with a suffocating reception in the fourth round and defended his UFC lightweight title. After the fight the Russian climbed over Octagon and attacked Dillon Denis, one of the Irish team members who insulted him, provoking a scuffle both in the hall and in the Octagon.

As a result, Nurmagomedov left the arena accompanied by guards, and, for security reasons, the head of the UFC, Dana White, refused to conduct traditional interviews in the octagon and to give the title to the champion. White after the fight said that the Russian fighter will not be deprived of the title because of the incident. He faces disqualification from four to six months, as well as a fine. The incident is being investigated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

White later said that if the Nevada State Athletic Commission decides to disqualify Nurmagomedov, the UFC will not bypass this decision, inviting the Russian fighter to out-of-state tournaments.

The victory over McGregor was the 11th for Nurmagomedov in the UFC, for the total of 27 fights in MMA, he won all of them.
