Thomas Oosthuizen (28-1-2, 16 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over former title challenger Thabiso Mchunu (19-5, 12 KOs) at the boxing evening in Kempton Park, South Africa. For Mchunu, this defeat was the third in the last five fights.

As a result of twelve rounds two judges gave it 115-113 to Oosthuizen and 114-114. Thus, Oosthuizen successfully returned to the ring after almost a year and a half years layoff and made his debut in a new weight category - the heavyweights. The title of African Boxing Union champion was at stake.

In the next fight, Oosthuizen may meet his compatriot, the owner of a secondary IBO title in the cruiserweights Kevin Lerena.
