Farmer beats Dib and gets vacant title

In the main event of the evening in Redfern, Australia, Tevin Farmer (26-4-1, 5 KOs) of US scored a convincing victory by unanimous decision over local boxer Billy Dib (45-5, 24 KOs) and won the vacant IBF super featherweight title. In the 9th round, Dib was knocked down and was on the verge of an stoppage. During the battle, Jeff Fenech, the coach of Dib, was about to withdraw his boxer. The scores were: 118-109, 119-108 and 120- 107.

After the fight, Dib in tears announced that he was completing his career. Farmer called out Gervonta Davis for the unification.

At the end of 2012, Farmer's record was (7-4-1, 2 KO's) and it was hardly possible to say that he would ever become the world champion in the future. Since then he scored 19 victories. A year ago, he was shot in the hand in one of the incidents in his native Philadelphia, when Tevin defended his family. His fight against Kenichi Ogawa last December was scored in favor of the Japanese boxer, and then changed to no-contest because of the positive doping test of the latter.
