Garcia beats Easter, unifies titles

In the main event of the evening at the Staples Center arena in Los Angeles, in the lightweight unification battle Mike Garcia (40-0, 30 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Robert Easter, Jr. (21-1, 14 KOs) and added to his WBC title the IBF belt. The scores were: 116-111, 117-110, 118-109.

In the third round Garcia managed to send Easter on the floor with the combination of the right cross and left hook. Robert was able to recover and later fought from a distance, working a lot with his front hand. In the ninth round, the opponents went into an open exchange, which completely exhausted Easter, and he ended the fight in survival mode.

After the fight Garcia again announced his desire to rise to the welterweights for the sake of meeting with IBF champion Errol Spence, Jr., who watched the fight from the ringside.
