Prograis defends WBC interim title

The owner of the of "interim" WBC super lightweight title Regis "Rougarou” Prograis (22-0, 19 KOs) scored a convincing TKO victory in the eighth round over the previously undefeated Juan Jose Velasco (20-1, 12 KOs) in the main event of the evening at The Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Prograis who did not perform in his native New Orleans from the beginning of his pro career, was able to send Velasco to the floor in the fifth round with a punch to the body. Another blow to the body made Velasco fall in the seventh round. After the next knockdown in the eighth and the subsequent beating, the corner of Velasco finally called it off. The time was 1:39.

After the battle, Prograis announced that he plans to win the second season of the World Boxing Super Series at the Super Lightweights.
